ABOUT NEC ETHIOPIA

National Committee of Ethiopia, NECE, was established in November 2012 under Institute of Ethiopian Standards (IES)
- The National Electrotechnical Committee of Ethiopia (NECE) engaged in works of national Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies.
- National Electro technical Committee of Ethiopia (NECE) hosted by IES had been acting as an affiliate and an affiliate plus participant of IEC since the year 2012.
- NECE is currently an associate member of IEC.
- NECE represents Ethiopian interest in regional (AFSEC). And an international (IEC) levels as well.
- NECE has adopted several IEC standards for national use.
- Below is the list of IEC TC/SCs selected by NECE to participate in the work of IEC as P member.
- TC 9 : Electrical equipment and systems for railways
- TC 14: Power transformers
- TC 20: Electric cables
- TC 34: Lamps and related equipment
- As the country is giving priority for industrial parks in ICT and Electromechanical sectors, the growing number of industries in electrical and electromechanical is increasing the demand for IEC standards for Engineering sectors such as railway engineering, hydroelectric power, wind energy, solar power plant and household appliance. As a result, NECE would like to participate in the development of international standards, adopt more IEC international standards as Ethiopian standards and use IEC conformity assessment schemes based on third-party certification as well.
